In February, I had the pleasure of being the DOC for Rachelle and Tyrone’s wedding at the Little Harbor Resort in Ruskin. Rachelle and Tyrone were SO much fun!! They traveled from Michigan to have their beach wedding and they were fortunate to have so many friends & family travel to share their day with them! All of you Florida natives know that February could be any temperature – but they were blessed with a very warm, sunny day with a breathtaking sunset!
Little Harbor Resort is truly a hidden jewel! They have a gorgeous beach along the south side of Tampa Bay which offers views of the city skyline. Nancy, the coordinator at Little Harbor, was great to work with and the banquet staff
Marci Vitkus performed the ceremony along with a couple solos (yes! she sings too!). Marci’s voice is so calm and soothing and she has fantastic vocals!!! She performed a flawless ceremony.
The gorgeous flowers were all silk and were made by Shavon’s Wedding Silks. I was fortunate to meet Shavon the week of the wedding and she is super sweet! As you can see by this picture, she is very creative and talented!
The photos below were taken by their awesome photographer, Jason Angelini. Jason is one of those truly genuine and down to earth people and it is obvious that photography is more than just a job for him…it is a passion. It was an honor to work with him and I am so thankful that he was willing to share his amazing photographs for my blog and website.
Congratulations Rachelle and Tyrone!!!!
Thank you for including Flawless Occasions in your special day!!

The Image of a Wedding Planner
February 25, 2008 at 9:06 pm | In DOC, Day Of Coordinator, Wedding Planner | Leave a CommentThere are a lot of stereo types that go along with being a Wedding Planner. One of the first things that often comes to mind is that a wedding planner is too expensive. While there is a wide price range for wedding planning services, it is probably much more affordable than you would think! Most planners also offer a free initial consultation, so it never hurts to meet with them to see what they can offer and how much their packages are.
Knowing that every bride has different needs and that each wedding is very different, I actually customize my packages for brides. Basically what this means is that if they are looking for someone to coordinate their wedding day, but they also need assistance along the way with vendor contracts or vendor selections, I can add each item to the package. This way they don’t have to pay for a full planning package and they can hire me just for the services they need. Other brides have all the details taken care of but they have elaborate decorating or assembly that needs to be completed on their wedding day so I will customize a package that is geared more towards their decorating needs. Still others are completely overwhelmed with the whole process, so they need someone to help them develop a budget, find vendors that fit this budget and then come up with ideas to make their vision become a reality.
Another stereo type of Wedding Planners is that they are snooty and over the top. I can’t tell you how many times I have had a client or potential client say “You are not what I expected! I thought you would be snobby and pretentious!” Maybe it is all the wedding movies and shows that create this vision for some people, but it never ceases to make me laugh when I hear this! Wedding planners are people that deal with the good, the bad and the ugly. We are running, lifting, climbing, fixing while always keeping a smile on our face. Snobby is certainly not a word used to describe most of the planners I know!
The one stereo type that is true about planners is that we are organized. If you are not organized then there is no way you could ever keep up with the fast pace – especially on wedding days. If you can’t organize multiple things at one time and adapt to any changes along the way – then you will simply not succeed.
So, the gist of this message is that if you are a bride and in the back of your mind thinking it would be nice to have a Wedding Planner or Day of Coordinator (DOC) – it is certainly worth interviewing them and finding out what they can offer you. Not only can they eliminate your stress – most of the time a planner can save you money too!!! I promise – most of the planners you meet will not be anything like the wedding planners you see in the movies!
For The Love Of Planning!
February 25, 2008 at 8:11 pm | In Event, Event Planner, Introduction, wedding | Leave a CommentHere it is! I have finally started a blog! After all, isn’t it the “in” thing to do?? I am so fortunate that my business, Flawless Occasions, has taken off - so I thought this would be a great time to start sharing event planning tips, ideas, vendor reviews, honeymoon locations and anything else event related. It will also be a place where I can spotlight some of my brides and share some of their planning and wedding stories. For those aspiring event planners, it will provide you with some insight as to what it takes to plan flawless events! My specialty is weddings, so there will be a lot of wedding related posts…but many wedding ideas can be used for other events too!
